The Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board and Co-Owner of Adamed Pharma, Małgorzata Adamkiewicz, MD, PhD, has been awarded the Vectors 2024 award for her outstanding contribution to the development of the Polish economy and social activities. The distinction was awarded by the Employers of the Republic of Poland – the largest and oldest employers' organization in the country.
The award ceremony took place on 11 January in Warsaw, gathering outstanding personalities from the fields of business, politics, science and the media. The ceremony was graced by the presence of the President of the Republic of Poland – Lech Wałęsa, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitization – Krzysztof Gawkowski, Minister of Finance – Andrzej Domański, Minister of Justice – Adam Bodnar, numerous representatives of the Sejm and Senate of the Republic of Poland, as well as Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek – President of the European Parliament, who was awarded the Super Vector statuette.
In this year's 23rd edition of the competition, Małgorzata Adamkiewicz, MD, PhD, was honored with the Vector Award for her outstanding achievements in the field of entrepreneurship and for the strategic management of Adamed Pharma, which underwent a dynamic transformation under her leadership. The award committee emphasized that:
"Adamed's passion and vision have made the company an international leader in innovation. Under her leadership, the company invested over PLN 2 billion in research and development, building the image of Poland as a center of advanced technologies in the world of pharmacy and biotechnology. In addition to pioneering activities, the jury appreciated the company's social commitment. Ethics, sensitivity and care for the environment are the values that give direction to the Vector winner's work."
Receiving the award from the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Affairs, Krzysztof Gawkowski, Małgorzata Adamkiewicz MD, PhD, said:
"The Vectors Award granted by the Employers of Poland is a great honor for me and I thank you very much for it.
25 years ago, when I left the hospital and moved to a family business for 100% of my professional activity, I never thought that Adamed would achieve such a position in Poland and operate on so many international markets. However, this would not have been possible without the great passion, commitment and hard work of many people. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire Adamed team and all those who have supported us a lot over the years.
Looking at this room today, seeing so many entrepreneurs, politicians and people from the world of science – I have this reflection because today I think completely differently – there is a great opportunity ahead of us as Poland, and we as entrepreneurs: we can build one of the strongest economies in Europe, and perhaps in the future also in the world. By acting together based on innovations, technologies and using intellectual capital, we can build a very economically strong country – and an economically strong country is, above all, a safe country, which is of great importance to us in today's geopolitical situation. We must act together, because only by acting together can we achieve success."
This is yet another award for the Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Adamed Pharma awarded by the Employers of Poland. In 2022, Małgorzata Adamkiewicz, MD, PhD, received the Heart Vector for her special commitment to drug and material aid to the citizens of Ukraine – a country that was facing war. At that time, Adamed Pharma allocated nearly PLN 17 million for support, including medicines and medical aid measures. In addition, the company took care of its Associates from Ukraine and their families. They were guaranteed existential, material and psychological help.
During this year's gala, the award in the Heart Vector category was given to the "Entrepreneurs for Flood Victims" initiative organized jointly by the Polish Business Roundtable, of which Małgorzata Adamkiewicz, MD, PhD, is the Vice President, and BNI Polska, Corporate Connections, as well as the Lewiatan Confederation. The award was awarded for last year's help for flood victims in south-western Poland.
The Super Vector statuette was awarded to Jerzy Buzek, Prime Minister and President of the European Parliament, for outstanding achievements in activities that bring significant benefits to the state and the economy.
