We are opening the CNS Department with the University in Alcalá de Henares

4 April 2023

At the end of February 2023, the Spanish representative office of Adamed signed an agreement with the University in Alcalá de Henares to open a department for the development of central nervous system projects. The agreement with one of the oldest Spanish universities brings us one step closer to addressing the tremendous needs within the field of psychiatric disorders that concern not only Spain, but also the rest of the world.

According to the World Health Organization, 1 per 8 patients suffers from mental disorders, which indicates that new therapies in this area should be further investigated. The agreement between Adamed Laboratorios and the University in Alcalá de Henares addresses these very needs. This involves promoting tests and spreading knowledge regarding the central nervous system via the newly opened department.

Marcin Nowak, General Manager at Adamed Laboratorios, emphasized that thanks to this agreement „Adamed will continue its work to search for solutions that improve patients’ quality of life, and commits to provide doctors with access to essential knowledge to keep them up to date in terms of the latest scientific achievements. This will also be a form of supporting and promoting novel and diverse projects in cooperation with the University in Alcalá de Henares.”

“Each department is created upon three basic pillars: development, research and spreading knowledge and its transfer. With this new department, which we are founding together with Adamed Laboratorios, we wish to be faithful to these pillars, thus making our own contribution to the central nervous system projects that can improve the lives of many people. As University representatives, we are extremely satisfied that we can contribute to the development of new projects that will be worked on in the department” – added the protector of the University in Alcalá de Henares, Professor Javier de la Mata.

The increased incidence of nervous system disorders has prompted Adamed to implement this research and development project, engaging respective experts. The company has been searching for innovative therapeutic solutions for many years, thus addressing the challenges of contemporary medicine.
