Adamed is a partner of the Health Market Forum

21 October 2021

Katarzyna Dubno, Public Affairs and Market Access Director, in her speech emphasized the importance of foreign expansion of domestic producers for the economy of our country. The development on international markets affects the dynamics of economic growth, increases the capital of the domestic pharmaceutical industry, which is necessary for investments, and at the same time ensures access to medicines. Despite growing export, the trade balance of pharmaceutical products is negative. In 2020 export increased by almost 20% compared to 2019. This is a very positive trend. However, Poland is still among those countries that are clearly dependent on the import of medicines and active substances.

Poland not only needs local producers of medicines, but also needs strong producers who are true partners in the socio-economic development of the region. The stable development of Polish companies is not possible without exports and development on foreign markets - said Katarzyna Dubno during the panel.

Adamed has been consistently increasing the value of exported pharmaceutical products for many years. Products manufactured in Poland are exported to 76 countries around the world. In 2020 the value of export revenues increased by 14% compared to 2019. Today Adamed is a net exporter and 1/3 of the company's revenues are generated from international activities.

This year's Health Market Forum was an opportunity to discuss the challenges of the healthcare system that it has to face in the pandemic reality. There were also proposals for solutions aimed at improving its functioning. Experts emphasized the need to develop and increase pharmaceutical production in Poland and Europe. As the pandemic has shown, this is crucial when it comes to ensuring access to medicines in our country.
