Open Doors event at the Medical University in Łódź

5 March 2015

The representatives of ADAMED SmartUP program talked to the prospective students about the program and its initiatives.

Over 1,000 learners from lower secondary and secondary schools in Poland took up the invitation and came to participate in the Open Doors events at the Medical University in Łódź. Young people could get to know the university better, learn about various activities undertaken by the scientific circles and find out about the nature of medical studies. They also attended an inspiring lecture entitled “You can become a scientist, too!”, prepared by Anna Kosińska, Project Manager of ADAMED SmartUP, and Joanna Jurek, a young ambassador of the program.

During the lecture, Anna Kosińska presented the assumptions and goals of the ADAMED SmartUP program, as well as the stages of recruitment to the scholarship program. She also gave a preview of ADAMED SmartUP Academy – a cycle of unique scientific courses. During the weekend courses in biochemistry and medicine to be held in Warsaw, Katowice, Łódź, Poznań and Tricity, the learners will have an opportunity to deepen their knowledge in the abovementioned areas, develop their scientific passions and meet their peers who have similar interests.

Joanna Jurek, this year’s graduate and an ambassador of the ADAMED SmartUP program, told her peers about subsequent stages of her scientific development, difficult situations that she encountered and ways of solving problems she faced. She also highlighted the role that determination and the ability to define the research problem play in achieving success.

The stand of the ADAMED SmartUP program was very popular both with students and teachers. They all asked about the next edition of the program, the possibility of taking part in the ADAMED SmartUP Academy as well as about other activities related to this project.

The Medical University in Łódź is one of the 10 honorary patrons of the ADAMED SmartUP program.
