Adamed Discovery officially opened! Scientists at the New R&D Center Work on breakthrough therapies

22 November 2025

Adamed Pharma has launched one of the most advanced research centers in Poland, located in Kajetany near Warsaw. At Adamed Discovery, scientists are working on breakthrough therapies for the treatment of oncology and neurodegenerative diseases, as well as on the development of mRNA-based vaccines.

The new Research & Development Center covers 3,500 square meters, with more than half of the space dedicated to laboratories. A multidisciplinary team of 40 scientists—chemists and biotechnologists—leverages state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure and technologies, including artificial intelligence and automation, to develop medicines that do not yet exist.

“Poland has the potential and the talent to create its own original drug. We are determined to make it happen,” said Małgorzata Adamkiewicz, MD, PhD, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Adamed Pharma, during the opening ceremony.

The event was attended by Michał Jaros, Deputy Minister of Development and Technology, who commented: “The opening of the Adamed Discovery Research & Development Center is excellent news for the Polish economy. For 40 years, Adamed has demonstrated that vision, consistency, and belief in Poland’s potential have real power. It is thanks to companies like this that young scientists can work at the level of the best European centers, while Poland strengthens its technological sovereignty and pharmaceutical security. In times of global challenges, projects like this enhance national resilience and create the competitive advantage we need most today. Congratulations to the entire Adamed team—this is what a modern, ambitious Poland looks like.”

“More than 20 years ago, Adamed was the first company in Poland to initiate research on original medicines. Today, we have one of the most experienced research teams in the country,” noted Bartłomiej Żerek, PhD, Director of the Innovative Department at Adamed Discovery.

Scientists at Adamed Discovery are currently conducting five research programs. The oncology project ONCO51 has already reached the stage of first administration of the molecule to patients.

“At Adamed Discovery, we follow a first-in-class approach. We focus on novel, breakthrough therapeutic solutions,” explained Nicolas Beuzen, PhD, Director of Innovative Drug Development at Adamed Discovery.

Such groundbreaking discoveries are most needed where effective therapies are still lacking. Cancer, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease are among the defining challenges of our time. Each year, cancer claims the lives of 10 million people worldwide, while over 180,000 Poles are diagnosed annually. Dementia affects approximately half a million people in Poland, and this number is projected to triple by 2050.

We are keeping our fingers crossed for our scientists—your work is an investment in Polish science, the future of medicine, and the development of innovative therapies originating in Poland.
