29 April 2021

The last year has enhanced a significant development of knowledge and innovation that is marked with COVID-19 vaccine. Now, we are more aware of the dangers of the pandemic. The risk of COVID-19 slipping out of control seem very real, therefore only international responsibility and solidarity can help respond to the challenges regarding global health service. "United we stand, divided we fall" – was the slogan under which the second International Conference Adamed was organized connecting online nearly 40 000 doctors from nine countries on April 22-23, 2021.

COVID-19 has accumulated many problems - the pandemic has strained health care system, doctors and medics face constant pressure resulting from the current epidemiological situation. What the doctors need today is an access to the latest knowledge and exchange of experience on everyday clinical practice. Since the first conference was well received, once again Adamed invited doctors and experts from around the world to the global platform for medical dialogue - the 2nd edition of the International Conference Adamed entitled Another year of pandemic and new challenges to the Healthcare System.

The current pandemic is the most important and deadly situation in the last hundred years. The progress and efficiency of science and pharmacy regarding the development of vaccines was record-breaking and our international conference is also spreading this knowledge. The pandemic has killed millions of people, leaving us with even more patients who will suffer from serious, long-term complications. The healthcare system will have to deal with postcovid syndrome in the next decade. Moreover, we will have to deal with non-communicable diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), hypertension and a new group of psychiatric complications related to the fact that people are afraid to entrust their health to a doctor on the other side of the screen - said Prof. Andrzej M. Fal, the main chairman of the 2nd International Conference, Head of the Clinical Department of Allergology, Lung Diseases and Internal Diseases, Central Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration in Warsaw, the President of the Management Board of the Polish Society of Public Health.

In total, nearly 40 000 participants from Europe and Asia attended our online conference. It was broadcast to 9 countries in several time zones, and the lectures of 18 speakers were simultaneously translated into four languages (Polish, English, Spanish and Russian). During the first day, experts discussed, among others, the issue of allergic diseases in COVID-19 (Prof. Tair Nurpeissov, Kazakhstan), rehabilitation of children with viral respiratory tract infection (Prof. Furkat Shamsiev, Uzbekistan), the role of psychiatrists during COVID-19 pandemic (Dr. Miquel Bioque, Spain) and management of hypertensive patient (Prof. Andrzej Januszewicz, Poland).
