In October 2023, the Maria Grzegorzewska University in Warsaw will again offer a postgraduate study programme for school counsellors and psychologists within the Psychology study area. The “Psychological support for children and the youth in crisis” course was first launched in 2021 and has been widely popular ever since. Enrolment is possible until 30 September and can be completed online. Adamed Pharma is the partner of the latest edition.

Another edition of the important academic programme will be launched this year, once again in partnership with Adamed Pharma. Cooperation with the Maria Grzegorzewska University is a vital component of the company’s corporate social strategy which it has been implementing through numerous social campaigns and programmes.

A satisfaction survey conducted by the university among its participants has found that the classes are evaluated very positively while being praised for their very high quality.

The study programme enhances the competences of psychologists and educators necessary to work with children and adolescents in crisis – resulting from both their current developmental stage and related to situational and psychological difficulties, stemming from deficits in various areas of functioning.

School counsellors and psychologists have a huge potential for providing assistance

According to Ewa Odachowska-Rogalska, Ph.D., Head of the Postgraduate Study Programme “Psychological Support for Children and the Youth in Crisis”, Polish schools often face the problem of a lack professional psychological assistance.

The programme addresses the helplessness of children who lack mature coping mechanisms and thus need and look for support in the wise adults in their community. In my therapeutic work, I often deal with children who suffer because of the passivity of the school community, which feels helpless in the face of a child’s trauma. The professional group of school counsellors and psychologists has a huge potential for providing the much needed help, but it requires support and capacity building as regards actual assistance activities. The programme may potentially help everyone, as sound institutional support means that the children are well looked after and that parents can feel safer,” sums up Dr. Odachowska-Rogalska.

The programme consists of four themed modules important from the perspective of children’s development, the theory of crisis and the forms of support for children at school and at home: For the detailed curriculum and admission criteria, see here.
